The sLink project consists of a daemon "slinkd" and a suite of cgi programs which provide a web interface to an EDM/BOSCH Solution16 Alarm Panel. Some of the immediate advantages this offers are self-monitoring your alarm system across the internet or dialup (via vpn or ssh), home-automation/switching capability is selectable via your web browser and it is also possible to program the solution panel via virtual codepad or programming sheet. When combined with gnokii project smsd software you can manage slinkd via sms from your mobile phone. If you have WLAN gear and a handheld pc the slink gui can be accessed via the simple web interface as you roam around your house.
This project is still under development, the status view and codepad are considered stable, the programming sheet is functional but requires more work (use at own risk). If there is any interest in the work completed so far and others are able to contribute then there will be a more motivated effort to produce a stable release candidate. Primarily this project is used as an educational tool to explore the available technology.
